As a High School Senior in 2004, Jerrell Powe was one of the nation’s top 5 Defensive Tackles. Highly recruited Jerrell chose to play college football at Ole Miss but was forced to sit out for three years after being declared academically ineligible. While working to become NCAA eligible, Jerrell faced many obstacles including gaining weight, being out of shape and negative feedback from the media due to his situation. When he was finally eligible to play, Jerrell worked hard in the weight room and showed great perseverance, hard work and sacrifice to play football at Ole Miss.
Jerrell's academic eligibility never wavered during his four years on campus, and he is on pace to graduate. He also serves as a Team Captain, twice earned All-SEC honors and volunteers in the community.
